Title:
  Wildcards in hosts file

Status in The GNU C Library:
  Unknown
Status in “eglibc” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Dear Ones,

It would be great to be able to use wildcards in the hosts file like
  "127.0.0.1 *.localhost".

I'm not sure what is the upstream for this. Is it EGLIBC? Perhaps
  glibc?

  Blessings,
  Shahar
