I have installed LXDE package and now i can log back into the lxde desktop. However, logging into ubuntu (unity) generates the reported error. My system specifications are as under:-

Bug description:
  clicking on the ubuntu icon to launch the DASH the system starts logging out and shows this error-
  '[drm] nouveau :0000:00:0d.0 GPU-lockup switching to software fbcon'
  '[drm] nouveau :0000:00:0d.0 failed to idle channel 1'

  The systems goes into a loop comming to the login screen and not
  booting.
