This happened to me testing this ISO: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-
live/20120822/quantal-desktop-armhf+omap4.img on a panda board.

Bug description:
  reproduced with current desktop amd64 in Virtualbox or real install
  and arm daily.

  Didn't get chance to do anything - booted to error message and apport.

  At splash screen start a live session and install from it
