Bug description:
  the bug appeared in Ubuntu 11.10 after an important update (like 208 packages to update)
  it was first difficult to get the update to complete and then, once i managed to get it installed, i couldn't log into the "Ubuntu" session from LightDM.
  i tried to reinstall the package "lightdm-gtk-greeter" and it's when the crash occured.
