Which version of VMPlayer and VirtualBox are you using.

Can you please give the live system a run direct on hardware without any
virtualisation? The behaviour in this setting would be good to know.

Bug description:
  A minute after clicking on 'Try Ubuntu' a prompt appeared saying,
  Ubuntu 12.10 has experienced an internal error. Guess, that's not
  something expected when a user is giving a shot at Ubuntu. So raising
  this bug. Screen shot attached.
