Title:
Zorin install crashes repeatedly on install from CD to flash drive, on
two different computers
Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
This happens on two different laptops, an older Compaq Presario AMD
and a brand new Toshiba Satellite. Install process is to remove HDD so
Zorin cannot overwrite it, launch Zorin Live CD and attempt to install
to 16 GB flash drive. Install crashes at "Help with Zorin screen"
while attempting to "creating user" The resulting flash drive has
files but wont boot. The Zorin instance does not crash. This process
was tested three times on two computers and crashes at the same place
each time. The Zorin CD was able to install a successful dual boot
with Win XP on a HDD.
The failed installs were from both launching the Zorin OS CD into the
OS, then to Install, and also from launch install from CD. WHen launch
install from CD, the Zorin start button does not work.
The file var/log/syslog is empty and not attached. var/log/partman is
attached
The purpose for installing w/o HDD was to prevent HDD overwrite by
accident, and to force Zorin install on flash drive instead of putting
that miserable GRUB on the HDD.
