It looks to me like the firmware for the driver is missing:
Jan 1 00:00:41 ubuntu kernel: [ 43.133026] wl12xx: ERROR could not get nvs file ti-connectivity/wl1271-nvs.bin: -2
Jan 1 00:00:41 ubuntu ntpdate[1869]: no servers can be used, exiting
Jan 1 00:00:42 ubuntu kernel: [ 43.634185] wl12xx: ERROR could not get nvs file ti-connectivity/wl1271-nvs.bin: -2
Jan 1 00:00:43 ubuntu kernel: [ 44.306671] wl12xx: ERROR could not get nvs file ti-connectivity/wl1271-nvs.bin: -2
Jan 1 00:00:43 ubuntu NetworkManager[1314]: <info> (wlan0): deactivating device (reason 'managed') [2]
Jan 1 00:00:43 ubuntu dbus[1034]: [system] Activating service name='fi.w1.wpa_supplicant1' (using servicehelper)
Jan 1 00:00:43 ubuntu kernel: [ 44.307983] wl12xx: ERROR firmware boot failed despite 3 retries
Jan 1 00:00:43 ubuntu kernel: [ 44.308410] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): wlan0: link is not ready
That is a linux-firmware issue.
