  fault 12.04 lts upgrade attempt

Bug description:
  i tried to use the 12.10 installer to perform an upgrde on an 12.04 lts installation, but the 12.04 install was not starting no more?
  i hoped to fix this by updating, but will now try to overwrite/ replace.
