Can you give some details on your partitioning (list of partitions, mount points and filesystem type)?
The specific crash is easy to workaround but I think we should really figure out why your /home got unmounted somewhere between user-setup (saying your home directory already exists) and the plugininstall call right after it failing because it's gone.

  The ubiquity-installer crashes when migrating the data from an
  existing user account, when he can't umount the partition because it
  is in use, while it can't be used, the installer was the only program
  running from a DVD.
