Can you give some details on your partitioning (list of partitions, mount points and filesystem type)?
The specific crash is easy to workaround but I think we should really figure out why your /home got unmounted somewhere between user-setup (saying your home directory already exists) and the plugininstall call right after it failing because it's gone.
