Title:
blank screen after clean install ubuntu 10.10 netbook remix

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: ubiquity

Here is what I see after a fresh CD install of
  ubuntu-10.10-netbook-i386.iso on my ASUS P1-AH2. I did have 9.1
installed on it before I started this install

  t0: beep
  t5: bios logo
t10: screen flashes on and off and goes blank
t15: screen flashes on and off and goes blank
t40: screen flashes on and off and goes blank
t50: screen flashes on and off and ubuntu logo appears
t80: screen flashes on and off and cursor appears
t85: screen flashes on and off and goes blank....

nothing seems to happen after this...

I am able to press Ctrl-Alt-F1 and get to a command prompt
But when I try to login with my username and password I get:

  Welcome to ubuntu!
   * DocumentationL https://help.ubuntu.com/

  199 packages can be updated.
  54 updates are security updates.

Unable to cd to ' /home/music'

  Ubuntu 10.10 music tty1

How can I get my system up and running?

I have attached the files you requested. syslog from the
  /var/log/syslog

I am installing on a 8G USB Key. So, I was able to plug that into my
other PC to get you these files.

  thanks for your help,

  Michel.
