Title:
Error while burning DVD-RWs: Input/output error

Status in “cdrkit” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid
Status in “dvd+rw-tools” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
The error is produced when I put in a blank DVD-RW in my IDE DVD burner, drag
files to the burn:/// window and click "Write to Disc"
After the image is created I get a dialoge saying:
"Error writing to CD -- There was an error writing to the CD: Unhandled error,
  aborting"

  The error details are:
/dev/hdc: "Current Write Speed" is 2.0x1385KBps.
  :-[ WRITE at LBA=0h failed with SK=5h/ASC=64h/ACQ=00h]: Input/output error
:-( attempt to re-run with -dvd-compat -dvd-compat to engage DAO or apply full
  blanking procedure
  :-( write failed: Input/output error

The error is only produced when I try burning DVD-RW. DVD-R and CD-RW burning is
working well. I haven't tried DVD+RW, however my burner does support both
formats. The error does not depend on whether the DVD has been writen to before
  or not.

I've also tried burning a DVD-RW using graveman which also doesn't
  work.
