Is this with a graphical boot splash, or not?  Please show the contents
of /proc/cmdline, and of /etc/crypttab.

Status in “cryptsetup” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  After upgrading from 11.10 to 12.04 beta, unlocking encrypted volumes
  (for instance /home and /var/lib/mysql) at boot time no longer works.
  Entering a password and pressing return simply clears the password, no
  other feedback is given.
