Looks like a wrong version check in the maintainer script for detecting
upgrades.  Wasn't a problem before because update-alternatives was
always called in the postinst add our new alternative; now that we're
deferring the alternative installation, this version check needs to be
fixed, or else new installs of the package will fail consistently.
