Public bug reported:

Was doing a new install on a Thinkpad T61 with Windows 7.
In windows, I setup 12gb of unallocated space at the end of the drive.
Selected side-by-side installation. 
Installer skipped the screen with the partition slider. 

reported error
E: sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
pkgs broken state:
python-uno and a bunch of libreoffice
