For the time being the following two commands can at least reduce the fragmentation of files:
  cp -a
  e2fsck -D

Bug description:
  Please include the ext4 defrag and other tools in Juanty.  Currently
  using alpha 3 with all patches as of 2009-01-026 and do not see it in
  the package list on any "...vese"
