Can you check if that bug stills happens with the current release of
friendly-recovery in Oneiric.

Your bug mentions Jaunty which isn't supported anymore and quite a bit
of work has been done in Oneiric to fix the resume option of friendly-
recovery.

** Changed in: friendly-recovery (Ubuntu)

Title:
  recovery mode hasn't usb activated

Status in “friendly-recovery” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: friendly-recovery

When selecting the new (really cool!) recovery mode in grub and
choosing "root with network" in the menu, it is not possible to run X
afterwards. I guess the usb drivers are missing because neither the
touchpad, keyboard nor the usb mouse works.

Suggestion: Add a "root with network and usb" entry to the menu.

  Description: Ubuntu jaunty (development branch)
  Release: 9.04
  friendly-recovery:
    Installed: 0.2.8.1
