[Bug 856009] [NEW] GRUB does not install correctly since 11.04 on a software RAID

Public bug reported:

I have had this problem with the installers for 11.04 and 11.10. When
installing the bootloader GRUB decides it should install to DEV/MAPPER
which is wrong and it fails. It then suggests trying DEV/SDA or
DEV/SDB, but I have a software raid so the correct choice is DEV/DM-0.
If I manually enter DEV/DM-0 it installs wonderfully. If I had not
known to try that, I would have been totally stuck as GRUB did not
recommend anything or let you look for anything to install to.

In 10.10 GRUB would recognize DM-0 and install there on its own.

** Affects: installation-report (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
