Title:
update-manager crashed with TypeError in confirmChanges():
glib.markup_escape_text() takes at most 1 argument (2 given)
Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
I am using Ubuntu 11.10 beta.
I am using version 1:0.152.17 of update-manager.
I tried to install updates with the update manager. Then there came the following error message (this is translated from Dutch, so it could be possible that the error message in English would not be exactly the same) :
"Not all updates could be installed
Do a partial upgrade in order to install as much updates as possible.
This can be caused by:
* A previous upgrade which wasn't complete
* Problems with the installed software
* Unofficial packages which are not supported by Ubuntu
* Usual changes in a pre-release of Ubuntu."
There were two buttons in this error message: "partial upgrade" and "close".
I clicked on the button "partial upgrade". Then a window appeared, similar to the window when you upgrade from one release of Ubuntu to another (which is quite strange, because I was not upgrading to a newer release of Ubuntu). When it finished with "calculating changes", it gave an error message "System program problem discovered" and asked me if I wanted to report this.
Other useful information could be the packages in the update manager which fail to install (when I have the error message "Not all updates could be installed" and I click cancel, I see these packages, but I can't select them to install, some other updates were not a problem to install). These packages that fail to install are the following (I always give the version which I have now and the version I tried to install):
- Office productivity suite -- English_British help (from version 1:3.4.2-2ubuntu2 to version 1:3.4.3-1ubuntu1)
- Office productivity suite -- Dutch help (from version 1:3.4.2-2ubuntu2 to version 1:3.4.3-1ubuntu1)
- Office productivity suite -- English_British language package (from version 1:3.4.2-2ubuntu2 to version 1:3.4.3-1ubuntu1)
- Office productivity suite -- English_southafrican language package (from version 1:3.4.2-2ubuntu2 to version 1:3.4.3-1ubuntu1)
- Office productivity suite -- Dutch language package (from version 1:3.4.2-2ubuntu2 to version 1:3.4.3-1ubuntu1)
- Complete Generic Linux kernel (from version 3.0.0.10.11 to version 3.0.0.11.12)
- Generic Linux kernel headers (from version 3.0.0.10.11 to version 3.0.0.11.12)
- Generic Linux kernel image (from version 3.0.0.10.11 to version 3.0.0.11.12).
