Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, I am closing it because the bug has been fixed
in the latest development version of Ubuntu - Oneiric Ocelot.

If you need a fix for the bug in previous versions of Ubuntu, please

Title:
"Check for updates" drop-down list is editable, and it shouldn't

Status in “software-properties” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Ubuntu 10.10
  software-properties-gtk 0.80.9, Ubuntu Natty

The "Check for updates" drop-down list in Software Sources -> Updates
-> Automatic updates is directly editable, so I can enter any value I
want into it, aside from the four values of the list, and therefore I
can enter incorrect and meaningless values in it.

That list should be a non-editable list, like the "Show new
distribution releases" you can see just below in the same dialog.

I attached a screenshot to illustrate the problem.
