$ perl -e 'use Dpkg::Version ; print Dpkg::Version::version_check("2.0.37+cvs.JCW_PRE2_2037-1")'
0version number contains illegal character `_'
seems relevant here but I'm not sure what we should do about that...

I was attempting to merge lp:debian/apache2 into lp:ubuntu/apache2
following the steps at http://developer.ubuntu.com/packaging/html/udd-
merging.html when this crash happened.
