Title:
  ssh client does not forward X11 to local user's networked DISPLAY

Status in “openssh” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: openssh-client

  Version: openssh-client 1:5.1p1-ubuntu2 on Ubuntu Karmic (9.10)

  This is somewhat of a awkward setup, but used to work with older
  versions of Ubuntu.

  I work on a X-terminal that connects to my main workstation via XDMCP.
  Consequently, my $DISPLAY is:

  ::ffff:10.0.0.10:1.0

  If I then ssh -X username at remotehost, and launch a X application (like gedit, for example)
  gedit will not open at my DISPLAY. Rather, gedit will open on the :1 display of the main workstation.

  I was wondering if ssh is getting confused by the ip6 address, but
  haven't found a way to force it to IP4 (I can change $DISPLAY by hand
  before launching ssh, but then my magic cookie is invalid)
