I looked into it again and everything stemmed from a problem with the usb
stick I was using as installation media. Once I switched it out, everything
went well. So I think you can disregard the bug.

Thanks for the help!

Title:
Ubuntu 11.04 USB instalation crashes when copying files

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: ubiquity

I have a Asus UL30V with duo boot Windows 7 and Ubuntu 10. I'm trying
to install Ubuntu 32bit over the the old Ubuntu partition by using a
2gb Kingston data traveler USB stick. I can run the live CD program
with no problems but when I try to install the new OS I get pretty
far, it says almost done copying files at the bottom installation
status bar( about 95%) it crashes.
