Short-term fix:
--------------------
Edit the html file (as sudo) to correct the url e.g.
sudo vi /usr/share/doc/python2.7/html/index.html
Then search for the "modindex.html" url and replace with "py-
modindex.html" and save the corrected file

Title:
Bad URL within index.html (for py-modindex.html)
Status in “python2.7” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
The main "Module Index" clickable link does not work. The problem is
that its href is "modindex.html" while it should be "py-
modindex.html". Notice that there are three such links in this
index.html page, the two others are OK.
