Lubuntu 11.10 does not have this problem, it installed a proper grub2
loader

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Attempted to install Lubuntu 11.04 onto Acer Laptop 5620.
  Selected manual mode and one partition for /
  Near end of install ubiquity reported
  removing language-pack-... and it would loop the list 3 times,
  then it reported install complete.
  Rebooted into no MBR.

  Good ISO with good MD5
