tried to do that. Unable to install Impress after I was trying to us the 
package manager should I try command line. I also seem to have a lot more of 
these messages now relating to other packages that claim to be installed.
guessing command line would be apt-get libreoffice-impress

/var/lib/dpkg/info/libreoffice-impress.list seems to be corrupted. Try
removing that file and reinstalling libreoffice-impress.

dpkg: unrecoverable fatal error, aborting:

 files list file for package 'libreoffice-impress' is missing final
newline
