Title:
  ubuntu 11.10 installer crashes randomly with OSError: [Errno 17] File
  exists: '/target/var'

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  The installer runs, but crashes during setup, after formatting hard disk.
  Not sure what causes the crash.
  Ubuntu 11.10 x64 desktop iso was installed into 1GB usb stick (FAT), using pendrivelinux's universal USB installer.
