Actually, what the problem is has to do with launchpad and its failure
to terminate due to resolution. Blaming Ubuntu for launchpad is like
blaming the roadway if a bus hits a pedestrian. I understand your
frustration, but don't blame Ubuntu for it.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Run apt-get nstall ms-ttcorefonts-installer in a terminal
2. Close the terminal window at the EULA question (apt-get/dpkg/debconf) will sting hang in the background and lock the system)
3. Reboot
