Bug description:
  Binary package hint: plymouth

  After install, with the 20100406 ubuntu alternate image, the mini
  fails to complete boot with a blank screen and just a blinking cursor
  visible. If the system is booted with "verbose" or "nomodeset" as
  kernel parameters instead of the default "quiet splash", it completes
  boot to a graphical interface.

  In the case of using "nomodeset", until gdm appears all that is
  visible on screen is still a blinking cursor.

  "plymouth:debug=file:/var/log/plymouth-debug.log" does not cause a log
  to be written to disk.

  Disk activity usually stops within 1-2 seconds at most when booting
  with the default settings (quiet splash).
