Title:
grub.cfg is not updated
Status in “grub2” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
It seems grub.cfg isn't always updated. I just upgraded this machine,
and even though it had recent kernels installed, the grub.cfg hadn't
been updated for a year. Also, removing kernels show this error, apt-
get remove --purge linux-image-2.6.32-25-server rendered my system
onbootable, because grub.cfg was not updated. Running grub-mkconfig -o
/boot/grub/grub.cfg fixes the problem, but this really should be
fixed. Flagging this a security issue, since new kernels may be
installed, but not used. This may be related to #447696
