To fix this bug on your side, you can run "sudo apt-get install -f" to
finish the upgrade process.

  The do-release-upgrade command did not successfully complete and my
  new ubuntu 11.10 is a mess, for example it has no terminal,and in the
  software center it shows that it is already installed
