Title:
unix_chkpwd abnormal exit: 11; unlock only works on second attempt and
  switch user

Status in One Hundred Paper Cuts:
  Invalid
Status in Unity:
  New
Status in “pam” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
This only happens on my Netbook, running UNR 9.10 and 10.04:

Whenever the screen gets locked (timeout, return from standby, manual
lock), I try to unlock it but the system rejects my login attempt.

I'm running a dual-language system, but I checked the input language,
and it's the right one. In fact, I have several systems running
multiple languages, and this ONLY happens on the netbook.

I've checked the logs, and seen the following info in
  /var/log/auth.log:

  Aug 13 16:15:19 jonathan-computer gnome-screensaver-dialog: pam_winbind(gnome-screensaver:auth): request wbcLogonUser failed: WBC_ERR_AUTH_ERROR, PAM error: PAM_USER_UNKNOWN (10), NTSTATUS: NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER, Error message was: No such user
  Aug 13 16:15:21 jonathan-computer gnome-screensaver-dialog: pam_unix(gnome-screensaver:auth): unix_chkpwd abnormal exit: 11
Aug 13 16:15:25 jonathan-computer gdm-session-worker[31679]: pam_succeed_if(gdm:auth): requirement "user ingroup nopasswdlogin" not met by user "jonathan"

The only workaround seems to be to click the Switch User button, and then login to my active session again.
