Title:
do-release-upgrade does not properly lock dpkg database
Status in “man-db” package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
When upgrading the system to 11.10, various processes try to access the dpkg database while upgrade is running. These include unattended-upgrades, apticron and update-manager. It happens from time to time, that these processes will gain a lock on the database, forcing the main upgrade process to abort.
I would expect either the main upgrade process to wait until the database gets released OR to properly lock it so no other process can access it while the upgrade is running.
