Title:
  Distro fails to upgrade.

Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I think this was because I've installed several things not in the
official repository. I'm a newbie, but shouldn't the update manager
copy all library files and binaries verbatim in case of such an
  occurrence?
