Bug description:
  I'm using the latest 11.10 under Gnome 3.
  There is a red caution/alert sign on my top panel. 
  When I click on it, it gives an error message that runs off the right end of my screen, so I cannot read it all.
  This is true on both a narrow and wide screen (I have an extended desktop, and tried it on both).
  (In addition, the error message is outdated: it says to click on "Check for updates" in the same drop down window, but the option is now called "Show update")
