Title:
default keyboard for English not correct

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
This is not so much a bug as a design fault but a fairly annoying one
and one that was present for 11.04 and now 11.10 as well.

The problem is simple...the first step of the installer selects language. All good and well. I choose English.
But then the installer stupidly assumes you are using a standard US English keyboard. I am not. I am using a Spanish keyboard because my laptop was not bought in the US.

The big problem is when you then go to manually partition your hard
drive. You can't enter "/" unless you copy paste it or can remember
which key it is on a US keyboard.

Then to rub salt in the wound the page letting you select keyboard is
at the end of the installer.

I don't know who designed the order of the pages but they need to
learn that keyboard selection needs to follow language.
