Hello Even,
Thanks you for the tip, I had read "check CD for defects" before but never knew how to do so.

As it (embarrassingly) turns out: It was a bad disk.

I had burned three different copies and they all did the same thing so I
though it couldn't be the problem, but I borrowed someone else's 10.04
disk and it worked fine.

Sorry for the... incompetency. I hope that the next bug I report is more
interesting! :)

Thnaks

Title:
Ubuntu installer crashes because of an input/output error using new
  WD 1TB HDD

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
I have attempted to install Ubuntu (both 11.04 and 10.04 LTS) along
side Vista several times from three different CDs and a flash drive
onto a new 2.5' Western Digital Scorpio Blue 1TB Hard Drive. I had
Ubuntu 11.04 running without any problems on the same laptop (Dell
Inspiron 1525) with a Seagate 500GB hard drive up until a few days
ago. When trying to install, each time I get to somewhere around the
stage where the narwhal image comes up I get a message saying that
there was an input/output error and the install has failed.
Unfortunately, since the install fails every time I am unable to
access the syslog and partman files to this report but if you need
more information I will try to do what I can.
