Hello Matthew McGowan,

I have never used bzr before. So, I will mention the steps I followed:

1. I used the command:
-----------
bzr branch lp:~mmcg069/software-center/no-nm-net-detect
-----------
to get the branch.

2. Entered the 'no-nm-net-detect' directory created, and saw an
executable file named 'software-center' there. So I ran './software-
center'. At that moment I was using wvdial to connect to the net. As
before, software-center again failed to detect the connection.

3. I also tried some of the other scripts such as
'run_against_rnr_testing_env.sh' and 'run_local.sh', but the again, the
application could not connect to the internet.

Please let me know if I should have done something else.

Regards,

Santanu Chatterjee

Title:
software-center (Ubuntu 11.10 beta2) does not recognize internet
  connection made using wvdial

Status in “software-center” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
I have the feeling that software-center must be relying only on some
dbus signal to know of availability of net connection. wvdial probably
  does not use dbus.
