Adam or Andrew, can you try patching your udev initramfs scripts with
something like the patch from
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/oneiric/+source/udev/+bug/833783/comments/17
to get a dump of the kernel events leading up to this failure?

(The first half of the patch needs to be moved to debian/udev.initramfs-
nfs; probably "/sbin/udevadm settle || cat /dev/.udev.log" would make
sense.)

Title:
udev causes a kernel panic on oneiric network install

Status in “udev” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
While installing a few machines with Oneiric via network install via
serial console, I encountered a kernel panic (see attached log). The
panic was inconsistently reproduced as I was installing several
machines and a reboot seemed to allow the installation to continue.

I initially thought that this was related to LP#818177, but I was told
that it was not and asked to open this bug report.
