  11.10 beta 2 does not load live on Lenovo  T410s

Bug description:
  n.b. I am submitting this bug from different hardware, on which the Live CD worked. So ignore the hardware information that is probably attached.
  (Why? because "ubuntu-bug ubiquity" failed to complete on my 11.04 updated.)

  Symptoms:
  I booted from the beta 2 for 11.10.  I got to a screen asking if I wanted to try it out or install. 
  I clicked on try it out. The cursor switched to a rotating thingy, but nothing else happened for as long as I waited.
  Running top in a tty showed no CPU activity.
  I could continue to change languages in this gui choice screen, but could not select Install (Since try it out had been selected), but can not get beyond that. 
  This seems rather critical...
