Occurred exactly as described in the above description and repeatably
when installing 11.10 beta 2 on a Packard Bell dot s 2 netbook with an
existing MS Windows 7 install. All options were set to defaults
including repartitioning (although the second time this was unnecessary)
and these options were selelcted: MP3 codecs and Internet updates (which
worked via WiFi).
