Thanks for your bug report and for your contribution to Ubuntu. In order
to determine if this issue is plymouth related, please boot your
computer with plymouth disabled and then shutdown to see if you can
reproduce the issue. To disable plymouth for a single boot, follow these
steps:

1. Hold Right-Shift during Grub boot delay to access the boot menu.
2. Select your actual Ubuntu boot line and press "e" to edit it.
3. Select the "linux" line and at the end of the line, remove "splash" and "quiet".
5. Type "F10" to boot the custom boot line.

** Changed in: ubuntu
       Status: New => Incomplete

** Package changed: ubuntu => plymouth (Ubuntu)

Title:
server doenst boot with asrock a75m-hvs

Status in “plymouth” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Hi,

i am using the current ubuntu 1110 server version with a computer with asrock a75m-hvs motherboard.
when i boot my computer, the display will shut off shortly after grub is done.
there is no way to interact with the computer, network is not loaded and you have no graphical interface (and no console).

but if i choose to load the recovery mode in the grub menu and just resume it directly in this mode, everything boots and works fine.
  (found that "solution" in http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1799538)
