[Bug 897455] [NEW] i486 and i586 supported, i386 not so much?

Public bug reported:

The installation guide [1] reports that oneiric is not supported on i586
or earlier processors. Changes in Debian did indeed drop support for
i386 and older processors, but i486 and newer are still supported [2].

The installation guide for previous versions of Ubuntu contains the same
text. (I did not check to see how far back this goes.)

Also, I am running Ubuntu 11.10 on an i586 processor.

** Affects: installation-guide (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
