Title:
  aptitude search tells lies

Status in “aptitude” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  $ aptitude search canberra
  <snip>
  p libcanberra-gtk3-0 - Gtk+ 3.0 helper for playing widget event sounds with libcanberra
  <snip>

  $ aptitude show libcanberra-gtk3-0
  Package: libcanberra-gtk3-0
  New: yes

  Huh? Is the package installed or not? This also confuses zsh's tab
  completion.
