[Bug 888747] [NEW] 'upgrading' from 32 bit to 64 bit leaves 32 bit kernel and grub options present

Public bug reported:

I used a LiveCD to 'upgrade' my accidental 32 bit install to a 64 bit
install. On rebooting, selecting the default option in grub didn't boot
but selecting the 'older versions' option in the menu and selecting the
kernel presented there (actually exactly the same version) worked. And
looking in /boot, we see:

mwhudson at narsil:~$ ls /boot
abi-3.0.0-12-generic initrd.img-3.0.0-12-generic System.map-3.0.0-12-generic-pae
abi-3.0.0-12-generic-pae initrd.img-3.0.0-12-generic-pae vmcoreinfo-3.0.0-12-generic
config-3.0.0-12-generic memtest86+.bin vmcoreinfo-3.0.0-12-generic-pae
config-3.0.0-12-generic-pae memtest86+_multiboot.bin vmlinuz-3.0.0-12-generic
grub System.map-3.0.0-12-generic vmlinuz-3.0.0-12-generic-pae

-- the 32 bit pae kernel is still hanging around. dpkg doesn't think
they belong to any package, but they are there.
