881299 is unrelated. 882329 is for Ubuntu 11.10, and 883154 is unrelated. TBH, this sounds like a kernel problem. If you believe you were using APM before, you might try adding the following to your kernel command line:
acpi=off nolapic pci=noacpi noapic apm

Mind you, that is a complete guess. Since you mentioned that downgrading
acpid didn't show a difference, it is almost certainly not acpid that is
the problem. You might also try rebooting into an earlier kernel and see
if that helps. If it does then you should reboot into the affected
kernel, then report the bug with 'ubuntu-bug linux'.

I am closing this bug as this doesn't seem to be a problem with acpid.
If it is a bug with the kernel, the kernel team would want you to fill a
new bug anyway (see above). If neither is helping, I suggest bringing
this up on askubuntu.com. Please feel free to report any other bugs you
may find. Thanks!

Title:
Power consumption after update of acpid (1.0.10-5ubuntu2.1,
  1.0.10-5ubuntu2.2)

Status in “acpid” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
I have a Sylvania Meso G Netbook ( Rebranded MSI Wind) that has been
performing beautifully on 8.04 and then on 10.04. Never had any
issues with power consumption or the 4 cell battery that it has.

On 10/22/2011 update manager ran and pulled in acpid
(1.0.10-5ubuntu2.1, 1.0.10-5ubuntu2.2). Since then my battery cannot
charge (it was working fine) and my netbook is certainly pulling more
power. Please advise what troubleshooting steps you need from me to
resolve this issue before my netbook becomes fried.
