  fontforge segmentation fault when loading a font or creating a new one

Status in “fontforge” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  When I start FontForge, the window saying FontForge appears along with
  a window where I can choose the font to load or to create a new one.

  I can choose either option and FontForge will crash.
  Here is the log from after I ran fontforge in the terminal:
