Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-manager

Hello, I am using Natty 11.04, according to configuration files, however
these problems started the first time I tried to upgrade to 11.04 from
10.10. The upgrade never did a graceful finish, so I am not sure if the
upgrade is truly finished.

The following error occurs on update-manager startup:

"An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.

Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the following error message:
'E:Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages.'"

This error started when I tried to upgrade to Natty. Since then a lot of
things have been broken. I have tried updating all packages, and I have
updated all that I can with sudo apt-get --install-suggests -f upgrade
and dist-upgrade. I had to do a dpkg --reconfigure -a (maybe -d also)...
I saved as much output as I could. I got some strange errors from all
over the place. I am not going to go into the vast quantity of them.

"dpkg --get-selections | grep hold" produces nothing.

The following is an excerpt from my terminal:

"sam at orange:~$ sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Calculating upgrade... Failed
