Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: update-manager

  when starting update manager for normal system upgrade I get the
  following error message:

  E: Encountered a section with no Package: header
  E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/archive.canonical.com_ubuntu_dists_maverick_partner_binary-i386_Packages
  E: Die Liste der Paketquellen oder die Status-Datei konnten nicht geöffnet werden.
  E: _cache->open() failed, please report.

  Also 'sudo apt-cache policy update-manager' returns: 'segmentation
  fault'
