Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: update-manager

  Ubuntu 10.10 netbook
  Both update manager and Synaptic Package Manager have critical errors.
  Error message as follows:

  'E:Encountered a section with no Package: header, E:Problem with
  MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/getswiftfox
  .com_builds_debian_dists_unstable_non-free_binary-i386_Packages, E:The
  package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.'

  Package manager loads with the following message then closes:
  "E: Encountered a section with no Package: header
  E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/getswiftfox.com_builds_debian_dists_unstable_non-free_binary-i386_Packages
  E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.
  E: _cache->open() failed, please report."
