I tried to use apport to collect the data, but it said this: "Package
vim not installed and no hook available, ignoring", i have selected vim-
gnome in launchpad, so i don't know why it changed itself to vim with
nothing else.

  New

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: vim-gnome

  I have the netbook gui installed (i don't know what it's called), the
  one which uses one global menu for all application.

  To reproduce:
  Start GVim

  What happens:
  you do not get a menu, regardless of maximisation state of the window.
  you cannot even press Alt+F to get the File menu opened

  What should happen:
  you should get the menu in the top panel
